Intro
This website explains the Iraq War Memorial on display in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The installation depicts the 1900+ American soldiers who have given their lives in the current war in Iraq.
In practice the Department of Defense and the White House have sought to obfuscate the mounting US casualties.
It is our conviction that the citizenry of this military town would prefer to recognize and reflect
upon the sacrifice of their sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, or those of their friends and neighbors.
Addendum
On October 13 the memorial was dismantled and the collection of 1950 crosses was sent on to a next installation in Gunnison Colorado.
Since then the number of US casualties in Iraq has risen past 2000.
Meanwhile the peace encampment which hosted the memorial for Colorado Springs lives on to protest the war in Iraq and urge an immediate cease to hostilities.
